9:00 AM - 9:30 AM    Tennis, Tiny Tots (Ages 3 1/2 - 5) Summer Morning Clinics - Tiny Tots - Session H
In cooperation with Reading Recreation, Tennis Professional, Gregg Luongo, rejoins our summer team. Gregg has been a Professional Tennis Instructor for 32 years. He is a certified member of the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA), and played as the #1 singles player for Reading Memorial High School and the University of New Hampshire. Currently, Gregg is a Tennis Pro at Bass River Tennis Club in Beverly.  This program is a great way to get introduced to tennis and/or to build upon existing skills at all levels.  A session consists of 5 group lessons Monday through Friday.  Average ratio of participants to instructors in a given session will be a minimum of 4:1 and maximum of 8:1.  If a class is cancelled due to weather, all make-ups are scheduled directly with Gregg Luongo.The Tiny Tots Summer Tennis program is designed to introduce younger children (Ages 3 1/2 - 5) to the game of tennis and to have fun on a tennis court.  Games will be designed to promote fundamentals and interest in the sport.  Children will begin to develop movement skills, hand-eye coordination, and basic stroke production.  This is a great age for children to learn these skills which can help in all aspects of sports play.   Parents are asked to place children respective to their ability. If a child is misplaced, he/she may be switched. 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM    Beautiful Game Soccer Academy Advanced Player Clinic (Ages 9-13) - Advanced Player Clinic
Beautiful Game Soccer Academy presents the Advanced Player Clinic.  This co-ed clinic is designed for higher level players ages 9-13.  Most clinic participants have been playing soccer for at least 2-3 years.  This clinic's format is divided into two distinct categories.  The first part of the morning session will be centered around technical training and developing skills that will help a player perform at their next level.  The second part of the morning we will focus on strategies and tactical understanding of the game.  Our coaches will guide each player on a daily basis to reach new heights and strive for new goals.Our coaches are experienced, licensed, well trained and will provide a clinic atmosphere that is fun and challenging.  Coaches will monitor progress and provide all players an opportunity to get feedback both oral and written.  To ensure proper training, we strive to keep our coach to player ratio at no more than 1:15.Technique training includes:  advanced dribbling (change of direction moves/take on moves), passing, receiving, shooting in and around the box, crossing, heading, volleys, tackling, air balls and more.Tactical training includes:  attacking and defending in small groups, introduce and review the principles of play, set plays, team shape, movement of the ball, combination plays and more.
 
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM    SNL Academy Outdoor Fun Program! (Grades K-6) - Outdoor Fun! - Week 8
SNL Academy will be offering a half-day program at Parker Middle School. Programs will include sports drills & skills and cooperative games. The goal of the program is to get kids back outside interacting with their peers in a fun and safe atmosphere.This program is being held OUTDOORS ONLY.  We will set up tents for shade and if it should start to drizzle. There will also be portas on site.  If it does start to rain hard, we will have to call parents to come and pick up their child(ren).  We will make the call to cancel no later than 8:00am on the day of the program if the weather appears to be inclement. The scheduled rain date will be on Friday.PLEASE NOTE: Week 1 (June 27-June 30) location will be Birch Meadow Complex - Street Field.Week 2 (July 5-8) is Tuesday through Friday due to the holiday on Monday, July 4th.Week 8 (Aug 15-18) location will be Birch Meadow Complex - Street Field. REFUND POLICY:If you can no longer attend the week-long session and cancel out, you must notify the recreation division no later than the Sunday before your scheduled session via email at recreation@ci.reading.ma.us. There will only be recreation account credits granted to use toward future programs. Refunds will not be granted for this program. Come test your individual and team effectiveness as a participant in our Nerf RIVAL Battlegrounds! The RIVAL series is designed with Nerfer’s in Grades 6-8 as it features high-performance, high-speed Nerf blasters that are perfect for competitive, team-based play. If you have ever wanted to try out Paintball, this is a great, safe alternative! The RIVAL blasters use squishy Nerf pellets, which are perfect for competitive gaming because players can feel when they get hit, but the pellets don’t hurt like Paintball.  This awesome program puts a fresh spin on traditional games like Capture the Flag, King of the Hill, and Zone Wars, while also allowing participants to get great exercise, learn strategic planning skills, and make new battle-tested friends.Participants will play different games, with individual and team-based challenges, so there is always something new and exciting to strive for. We will also have all sorts of obstacles for the students to interact with, so they never know what to expect! 9:30 AM - 10:15 AM    Amazing Athletes (Ages 3-5 & Ages 5-7) - Amazing Athletes (Ages 3-Young 4): Summer Session III
Amazing Athletes uses a multi-sport program to benefit children ages 3-5 physically, mentally, socially and emotionally.  Our program introduces the fundamentals of various sports in a non-competitive environment which may include soccer, hockey, volleyball, basketball, tennis, lacrosse, football, track and field, baseball or golf. Children in Amazing Athletes routinely gain greater confidence, learn to combine fitness with fun and develop 6 key motor skills:Balancing / Running / Jumping / Throwing / Catching / KickingPrior to the start of the program (usually a day or two prior to the start of the class), all registered participants will receive an email from the staff at Amazing Athletes which will welcome you to the program and provide important information regarding the program.

In cooperation with Reading Recreation, Tennis Professional, Gregg Luongo, rejoins our summer team. Gregg has been a Professional Tennis Instructor for 32 years. He is a certified member of the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA), and played as the #1 singles player for Reading Memorial High School and the University of New Hampshire. Currently, Gregg is a Tennis Pro at Bass River Tennis Club in Beverly.  This program is a great way to get introduced to tennis and/or to build upon existing skills at all levels.  A session consists of 5 group lessons Monday through Friday.  Average ratio of participants to instructors in a given session will be a minimum of 4:1 and maximum 8:1.  If a class is cancelled due to weather, all make-ups are scheduled directly with Gregg Luongo.The Quickstart Tennis Program (Ages 12-18) is for participants that are ready to learn and develop basic fundamentals of forehands, backhands, serves, and volleys for practice drills and skill games. Players at the higher level will be developing skills in rallying, control, and point play. This is a great class for those looking ahead to high school tennis.  Parents are asked to place children respective to their ability. For a fun and healthy competitive sport that offers a workout for both mind and body, you can try fencing.  Fencing offers many health benefits including increased flexibility, leg strength and endurance, and improved coordination.  Additionally, because fencing requires you to learn how to predict and outwit your opponent, it is a sport that can greatly improve your concentration, reflexes and ability to notice small details.  Children and teens alike who are interested in the sport can learn fencing with the New England Fencing Alliance.   About the Instructor: Michael Tarascio was a member of the United States World Championship Team in Men’s Foil. Michael is a Level 4 Foil coach certified through the United States Fencing Association. Also, certified through the Positive Coaching Alliance and the American Sports Education Program.
