7:00 PM - 8:45 PM    Introduction to Drawing Portrait (Ages 18+) - Drawing Portrait - Session 2
The drive to create imagery is as old as human consciousness.  I believe that "an artist is not a special kind of person, but every person is a special kind of artist."  The great French artist Paul Cezanne said that all natural forms can be resolved into simple geometric shapes.  If you can draw basic geometric shapes, then the artist within you is ready for exploration!  We are going to start with the fundamentals of pencil drawing through line, tonal value, perspective, proportion and composition.  It is essential to understand proportions to build an anatomically correct face and give likeness and character to the portrait; shading to make it look dimensional.  Students will work from different components of the face made out of plaster casts to progress to full portrait drawing.  They will receive one-on-one instructions and step-by-step demonstrations.  We will use different mediums (pencil, charcoal, oil pastels, acrylic paint), but all works will be monochromatic (different values/tones of the same color).Materials included except the drawing board.  Please bring a drawing board 18x18 or 24x36 inch.PLEASE NOTE:  No class on Thursday, November 28th (holiday).
