Summer Daycation Program (Grades K-8)
Children entering Grades K-8th will be provided fun experiences in the areas of Arts & Crafts, Science & Nature, Sports & Games, and Cooperative Games. Reading Recreation also plans fun events throughout the summer with performers, inflatable water slides, ice cream trucks, and MORE!
The participant to staff ratio is 10:1. Children must bring their own non-refrigerated lunch, snack and drink each day to the daycation program. If registering a child with special needs, please contact the Recreation Division for more information.
SUMMER 2022 THEME WEEKS
Theme weeks are subject to change without notice. Weeks will not be entirely based upon themes. Daycation staff will typically plan a theme event on each day during the week.
Week 1 (June 27-July 1): PARTY IN THE U.S.A.
Happy Birthday America! Celebrate what you love about the USA. Playing games like Uncle Sam Says (Simon Says) and patriotic cornhole. Kids will even create their own red, white and blue flag and more!
Week 2 (July 5-July 8): COLOR ME CRAZY
[Please note that Week 2 is 4 days due to the 4th of July holiday on Monday.]
Children will be sure to see every color of the rainbow in this colorful week! Fun activities will include tie dye t-shirts and the first ever Reading Recreation Color Run!
Week 3 (July 11-July 15): SUMMER DAYCATION MASH UP
Join Reading Recreation as we roll some of the most popular summer themes into one week!
Monday: Reading Spirit Day - Wear your Rocket gear or Red and Black!
Tuesday: Hawaiian Luau - Wear something tropical!
Wednesday: Amazing Race - Mini sports & games tournaments with your friends!
Thursday and Friday: Halloween in July - Wear your Halloween costume while enjoying a spooky haunted house and Parade!
Week 4 (July 18-July 22): DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT
Join us for one of the most popular weeks of Summer Daycation - DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT! Children will enjoy dodgeball games like doctor, bombardment, sea wars, free for all, and more! After all the practice, teams will be made and a HUGE tournament will be held!
Week 5 (July 25-July 29): READING'S GOT TALENT
Lights, Camera, Action! Inside of everyone is a superstar waiting to be born. Let us help you discover your hidden talent. There will be no shortage of bravado as we sing, act, dance and shake our way through this show-stopping week!
Week 6 (August 1-August 5): READING OLYMPIC GAMES
Light the torch and prepare for another gold medal week at our Olympics in Reading! Kids will participate in a variety of sports including handball, soccer, basketball, and of course, DODGEBALL! Sure to be fun for all of our Olympic boys and girls!
Week 7 (August 8-August 12): UNDER THE SEA
Make a splash into Week 7! Ride the mechanical shark while exploring all things that live under the sea!
REFUND POLICY ~ PLEASE READ!!! ~
On or before May 2nd:
Refund minus $10 in the form of a check or a full credit to your Reading Recreation account to use toward future Recreation programs.
After May 2nd:
No refund checks or Reading Recreation account credits will be given for cancellations unless a doctor's note is provided. You can only transfer to another available week of Summer Daycation.
EARLY BIRD DISCOUNTS:
Register February 7th - March 7th:
Resident Fee: $200 per week ($160 Week 2 only)
Non-Resident Fee: $205 per week ($165 Week 2 only)
Register after March 7th:
Resident Fee: $225 per week ($180 Week 2 only)
Non-Resident Fee: $230 per week ($185 Week 2 only)
