This program is currently unavailable. Click here to view all of our current programs.

Reading Recreation is excited to be offering our 2021 Summer Daycation! Recreation Summer Daycation is being offered for children entering grades K-8th. The ratio for participants to counselor will be 10:1.

The Summer Daycation Program will look a little different than in years past. Children will be divided into cohorts of 25 (subject to change per state recreational programming guidelines) and rotate to outdoor and indoor areas at Coolidge Middle School each week.  We plan to take no more than 75 children at this time.
This Summer will feature a variety of activities in sports & games, cooperative games, science & nature and arts & crafts. There will be no pool time at the YMCA.  Each child will be asked to bring 2 snacks and a non-refrigerated lunch.
Our Daycation Program will be overseen by two seasoned Program Supervisors who have been working at our summer program for the past 10+ years as well as a majority of returning Summer Counselors. The Recreation Administrator and Program Coordinator will also be frequently monitoring the program.  Group requests will NOT be granted this year.

We have scheduled special events for each week of Summer Daycation!!!

Week 1: Chris Poulos - Thursday, July 8th
Chris Poulos, a former world champion bicycle stunt performer, punctuates his admonishments with wheelies and balancing tricks. The motivational speaker also discusses topics on kindness, health and trying to make their corner of the world a better place.

Week 2: Rainforest Reptile Show - Tuesday, July 13th
This is a traveling reptile and animal show which teaches children about the natural world and the animals that live there.  They will learn about how these fascinating animals have adapted to live in their environments.

Week 3:  Bubble Music Man - Wednesday, July 21st
This is an interactive program designed for children that brings together musical fun, interactivity and BUBBLES!

Week 4:
Halloween Haunted House & Costume Party!

Week 5: Curious Creatures - Tuesday, August 3rd
Live Animal Show - The Curious Creatures staff of experienced and professional exhibitors will teach respect and appreciation for exotic and unusual animals.  The presentation is hands-on and interactive and includes interesting facts and stories about the creatures in an educational and entertaining environment.

Information will be sent prior to the week that your child is attending.

If you need to cancel Summer Daycation, Reading Recreation will only issue Reading Recreation account credits.  There will be no refund checks issued for Summer Daycation this year.
