Summer Daycation Counselor-in-Training [CIT] Program (Grades 8-9) - CIT Program Week 2 (Monday, June 30 - Thursday, July 3) Registration Opens:February 18th at 8am for Reading ResidentsFebruary 25th at 8am for Non-ResidentsReading Recreation CITs will assist Daycation Counselors and Specialty Counselors and will move around as needed throughout the week. This program is designed to give youth entering the 8th and 9th grade a summertime experience that is fun but also teaches responsibility, leadership, and good communication skills. Please note that this program insists that its participants are assertive and self motivated. The success of this program depends on the willingness of the Counselors in Training to communicate with Daycation staff and participants effectively. CITs may come for the Before Daycation program (7:30AM-9:00AM). Counselors in Training are not guaranteed positions as Reading Recreation Counselors in future years. REFUND POLICY ~ PLEASE READ!!! ~On or before June 16th:Refund minus $10 in the form of a check or a full credit to your Reading Recreation account to use toward future Recreation programs.After June 16th:No refund checks will be given for cancellations. Account credits can be applied to your Reading Recreation account ONLY.*Please note that if you have a schedule change, you may transfer your child into a different summer camp week, if space is available.

Summer Daycation Program (Grades K-7) - Week 2 (Monday, June 30-Thursday, July 3): Reading, White, and Blue! Registration Opens:February 18th at 8am for Reading ResidentsFebruary 25th at 8am for Non-ResidentsChildren entering Grades K-7th will be provided fun experiences in the areas of Arts & Crafts, Science & Nature, Sports & Games, and Cooperative Games. Reading Recreation also plans fun events throughout the summer with performers, inflatable water slides, and MORE! The participant to staff ratio is 10:1. Children must bring their own non-refrigerated lunch, snack and drink each day to the Daycation program. If registering a child with special needs, please contact the Recreation Division for more information.SUMMER 2025 THEME WEEKSTheme weeks are subject to change without notice. Weeks will not be entirely based upon themes. Daycation staff will typically plan a theme event on each day during the week.Week 1 (June 23-June 27): Discovery Week!A perfect blend of science, adventure and fun! Scavenger hunts, hands-on experiments and exciting vendors will create a week of discovery, sparking curiosity and exploring the world around us in the most exciting ways!Week 2 (Monday, June 30-Wednesday, July 3): Reading, White, and Blue!Join us as we kick off our summer celebrating all things red, white, and blue! This short week will be packed with endless fun including Fireworks Salt Art, Flag Tag Relay, Uncle Sam Paper Plate Masks, Statue (of Liberty) Tag, and a visit from Kona Ice! Week 3 (July 7-July 11): The Greatest Show on Earth!Ladies and Gentlemen, Girls and Boys! Gather around for the greatest show Reading has ever seen! We're taking you under the big top to witness all your favorite acts with our Reading Daycation Talent Show week! We'll spend the week herding elephants, walking the tight rope, and putting on the greatest show on earth as kids and counselors show off their favorite hidden talents!Week 4 (July 14-July 18): Dodgeball Week!Duck, dip, dive and dodge your way into Reading's iconic Dodgeball Week! Teams will be split up to compete in a tournament style dodgeball day of fun along with other team games throughout the week! Bring your competitive spirit!Week 5 (July 21-July 25): Reading's Olympic Games!Let the games begin! Welcome to the Summer Olympics! This week will be action packed with a variety of sports and challenges each day! Groups will compete as countries and we'll even have medal ceremonies! Light the torch and prepare for another gold medal week at our Olympics in Reading! Week 6 (July 28-August 1): Surf's Up!Surf's Up, Reading! Ride the wave through this week of fun in the sun where we'll have water slides, dunk tanks, and water games galore!! Get ready for water balloon tosses, sponge tag, water relays, water slides and more! Be prepared to get wet this week!Week 7 (August 4-August 8): Spirit Week!Who's ready to show off their Daycation Spirit? Whether it's your favorite jersey, a fun Halloween costume, or a tropical Hawaiian shirt, it's time to get creative! A spirit schedule with daily themes will be sent out the week before, and we'll see which group brings the most energy and excitement as we wrap up this unforgettable summer season! Summer Junior Daycation Program (Ages 4-5) - Week 2 (Monday, June 30- Thursday, July 3) Registration Opens:February 18th at 8am for Reading ResidentsFebruary 25th at 8am for Non-ResidentsParticipants will enjoy activities in Arts & Crafts, Sports & Games, Music, and Free play! The child to staff ratio is 5:1. During the summer, children will enjoy special events such as model magic clay day, Pajama Day, and sports shirt/hat day. All children must be able to act independently and must be toilet trained in order to participate in this program. Participants are responsible for bringing their own non-refrigerated lunch, snack and drink. This program will be limited to 20 participants per week.
