Reading Snow Patrol: Volunteer Registration
SNOW PATROL: Neighbors Helping Neighbors
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED (18+)
Are you looking for a simple way to make a big difference in your community this winter? Reading Recreation, in partnership with Elder Services, is launching Reading Snow Patrol, a free, volunteer-based program connecting Reading residents with nearby neighbors who may need a helping hand during the winter months.
Many residents, including those age 60+, may have difficulty safely clearing snow from their steps, walkways, sidewalks, driveways, or other essential areas around their homes. Snow Patrol volunteers, age 18 and older, will be matched with residents in their neighborhood or nearby area whenever possible and asked to help clear essential pathways following a snowfall.
Volunteers can participate as individuals, couples, or get the entire family involved, with an adult age 18 or older accompanying younger family members at all times. Local snow removal businesses are also welcome to participate and lend a helping hand to a neighbor in need. There is no cost to participate and no payment for volunteers, just an opportunity to make a difference in your community. Whether you have a shovel, snowblower, or simply the willingness to give a little of your time, you can help.
Our initial goal is to find as many volunteers as possible throughout the Town. In order for this program to be successful, we want to make sure we have a strong team of volunteers in place prior to launching the program this winter.
