Red Roots Wrestling Club

Introductory Wrestling Program (Grades K-8)
Introduction to Wrestling is geared toward children just being introduced to the sport.  This program introduces the participants to the sport of wrestling.  The fundamentals of grappling are incorporated into a fun, engaging and age-appropriate atmosphere.  Individuals are divided into groups based on age, weight, experience, and ability.  For older or more athletic kids, there will be an opportunity to switch to the advanced program upon a coach's review.  Participants should wear "gym clothes" for practices.  There will be opportunities to compete against other towns, as well as wrestle in tournaments which could be on non-practice days. These tournaments will not be mandatory.  For children under 8, at least one parent or guardian should remain during instruction.
Advanced Wrestling Program (Grades 3-8)
Advanced Wrestling is geared to children in Grades 3-8 but younger children can be considered upon request.  This program incorporates instruction, conditioning, and games as a means of expanding on the fundamentals learned in the Introduction to Wrestling program.  Individuals are divided into groups based on age, weight, experience and ability.  Practices are planned for 2 days a week, Mondays and Wednesday beginning mid-November.  Participants should wear shorts and tight fitting t-shirts (no sweatpants or basketball shorts) for practices and dual meets, but may be required to wear a singlet, wrestling shoes and headgear in tournaments.

There is an expectation that 5th-8th grade youth wrestlers will compete against other teams throughout the season as well as in tournaments at the end of the season. Please note that these tournaments may be on non-practice days.  In some instances younger wrestlers will be invited to participate. Cost of program includes team uniform and use of team singlet.
